Skyline's Instructors

 

Maureen deHaan : has been training agility since 1996 and  competing since 1998. She mainly competes in NADAC but does some AKC  & CPE events. She has taken classes and workshops with some of the area's finest trainers and does present workshops herself. She has  taught all levels of agility from beginner to competition level and is the owener of Play~Bow Dog Training in  Kingston, NY. Her training philosophy is centered around the team bond between handler and dog while maximizing teamwork and understanding & respecting the dog for who she/he is. She has 3 dogs: A 13 year-old All-American rescue - Kodygirl, who has a NATCH and and Elite Triple Superior awards and retired from formal competition in the fall of 2007 with over 1500 lifetime points in NADAC. A 7 year-old Siberian Husky rescue - Nika Blue Eyes, who competes at the Elite & Open level in NADAC and Open level in AKC, and a 8 month old All-American rescue Kiva the Diva, who is just beginning her agility training.

 

Donna Fanok : has been teaching agility for the past several years as well as basic obedience. She currently competes in agility with her two papillons Kelsey and Abby. She is now beginning agility training with her newest addition a Yorkshire Terrier puppy.Donna also works as a trainer for an agency where her own dogs have been featured in many ads, TV , movies etc. Her papillon Abby most recently was seen in the movie "Just My Luck" with Lindsay Lohan. She has shown her papillons in Confirmation as well as training them in flyball.

 

Betsi Hartman : A founding member of Skyline agility, Betsi has been an instructor with Skyline since 1997, took a short time off and as of September 2006 is back.  She has put AKC, NADAC and USDAA titles on her two German Shepherd Dogs, Maggi Mae UDX, PT, MX, MXJ, NAP, NJP, EAG, EGC, OJC, PII, TDI U-CD, Can UDX and Dulci Jo CD, NA, Can CD, TDI.  Maggi placed 7th in the final rounds of the AKC Nationals in 1998 and her two border collies: Savi Rose CDX, MX, MXJ, MAD, RM, SAM, EAC, O-EGC, EJC, TG-E, WV-E, TN-E, CGC/TDI and Jazzi Q CD, AX,  AXJ, SSA, OAC, NGC, OJC, TG-O, TN-O, WV-O, SG, CGC/TDI.


Lavonda Herring : Has been involved in agility and schutzhund for many years handling rottwielers, Australian cattle dogs and most recently her two Boston Terriers Chilli and Paddy. In 2005, Chilli was successful in achieving her AKC , MACH agility title. They are now participating in competitive flyball.

Lavonda is a member of Skyline Agility Club and has instructed for us for a number of years.

Barbara Miller : has been active in the sport of Dog Agility for fifteen years and has been teaching agility for over 10 years. Her first agility dog, "Annie", a Cardigan Welsh Corgi, was a Finalist in the 1995 USDAA Grand Prix of Dog Agility. Her present Cardigan, Rusty, was only 2 years old when, in 1999, he became a Grand Prix and Steeplechase Finalist. Rusty is a USDAA Agility Dog Champion, AKC MX and MXJ and holds Elite titles in NADAC as well. He has been listed in the USDAA Top Ten of Dog Agility for the last 4 years. All totaled, Barbara’s dogs have achieved over 50 agility titles including the first ever on a Basset hound. Barbara has also titled her dogs in Confirmation, Obedience, Herding Tracking and Rally-O. This fall Barbara’s American foxhound, Cady, was the first in her breed to achieve a VCD 1 (CD, NA, NAJ, TD).

 

Arlene Spooner: ran "Alix," a Papillon, to the finals at the 2000 AKC Nationals and was 3rd across all jump heights in NJ in state competition.  She currently runs her rescued Afghan Hound "Tasha," her rescued Cocker Spaniel "Holly" (who finished the NADAC NATCH and AKC MACH titles) and her Manchester Terrier "Blitz" (who finished 19 titles in his first year of competition) .

She enjoys working with her students' wide variety of breeds and has competed and placed with a wide variety herself, ranging in running style from a Border Collie to a Briard to a Poodle, among others. Arlene is a member of Skyline Agility Club and has instructed with us for a number of years.
